parroquia de Dolores Dolores Hidalgo, called “Cradle of National Independence”, is the colonial city where the night of September 15 of 1810 the "Grito de Independencia" was made by Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, revealing the Mexican people against the Spanish domination.

The influence of Cura Hidalgo on the town comes from its activities for the people in the "Hacienda de la Erre", where it settled down a pottery, a carpentry and a loom. From that moment Dolores came famous by his ceramics and talavera crafts  and in the elaboration of carved wood furniture. In August the Artisan Mosaic Expo is made.

Taking a walk by the Main Garden it is possible to appreciate its Parish church, to visit the Museum of Independence, the house-museum of Miguel Hidalgo, and to see on Saturdays the spectacle of light and sound about the history of  the day of Independence. And, also don´t forget to try the delicious ice-creams of "garrafa" of the most exotic flavors like tequila, corn, avocado, mole, mantecado and shrimp among others.

Visit the "Hacienda de la Erre", one of the oldest of the country and first quarter of the insurgent army, as well as the Mausoleo of Jose Alfredo Jimenéz, where the rests of the illustrious dolorense sing-author of international fame rest.
