This is a project supported by Cante A.C., whose name comes from
the pima-chichimeca language can-te that means “water that gives life”, and is a mexican, scientific institution, non governmental, without profit aims.
Their efforts are oriented to preserve and rescue natural
resources. It promotes and makes activities and projects to avoid
the deterioration of our cultural patrimony.
"El Charco del Ingenio" is a zone of ecological reserve with cliffs,
waterfalls and an impressive vegetation between which vestiges of
"haciendas" and aqueducts are shown. Within this
magnificent landscape, it´s placed the Botanical Garden "Cante", where you
can find more than a thousand species of cactus, most of them are mexican species. These plants have been the passion of Mr.
Stirling Dickinson, who discovered the famous orquídea that takes his
name, along with it inhabits in this place different species of cactus, huizaches and wild flowers.
It also counts with a greenhouse where you can buy the cactus
you want, of different varieties, sizes and forms. Learn more from this type of species and the projects presented in the

be part of the traditions of this place in the Festivity of the "Charco del Ingenio", where communities nearby this place take their
offerings that are received by the butler between the copal, the songs
and praises directed to the Santa Cruz. Join the people,
get in the celebration, music, try "mezcal" and the typical food like "tamales" and "gorditas" that will delighte your
soul.
This protected area has always its open doors, from the dawn to sunset.
