hoya de volcan Their histories goes  from a supossed cousin “of Nessy”, called Chac by the inhabitants of the zone and which, is said, lives in the underground tunnels that connect the craters; until sightings of ufo´s, vegetables and fruits of great size or the fact that, according to the mexican astroarqueology Guadalupe Rivera de Iturbe, the volcanos are aligned with the Big Bear constellation.

Ideal destiny for the weekend, the zone includes 16 craters, although the traditions and legends only make reference to the seven of the well-known denomination.

Inside most of the craters exists small lakes that the inhabitants of this region call "Hoyas" or "Joyas". The main ones are:

la Albercacrater de volcan "La Alberca" (Tallacua), is located in the urban zone of Valle de Santiago, with a crater edge of 750 meters of diameter, of sulfurous waters and, in which is said, no bottom is known. It is very visited by divers and it exists boats service to make a ride in his waters.

"La Hoya de CÍntora" (Andaracua), of salt water to which healing properties for diseases of the skin are attributed. Located in the heart of this fascinating topography, it has a lot of caves, where inside many of them there are enigmatic and mysterious cave paintings. There are orchards of fruit trees and abundant vegetation. There have been found archaeological vestiges . At the moment it is used to cultivate.

"La Hoya de Flores" (Membereca), where rests of a pre-Hispanic ceremonial center, cave paintings and sources flowing  of the rocks exist. It is the gratest crater. In his interior there are thermal waters and their fertile lands have produced great harvests. The first giant vegetables occurred here.

"Rincón de Parangueo" (Liricua), of alkaline waters, at which it is possible to arrive through a tunnel of 500 meters long excavated on the rock. In his interior there is a calm water lake. Also there is possible to found lot of caverns just  explored. There are petroglyphs in some of them.

Siembra en Hoya Not all the luminarias have water. The "Hoya de Alvarez y Solíz" are dry and have been used from old times as agricultural aims. The one of "Alvarez" is considered a privilegious point to observe the nocturnal sky, for his elevated edges.

Finally, in the "Hoya de San Nicolas", exists registries that their waters change of color, just as happens to the crater of the neighboring city of Yuriria.

Sight from the heights, Valle de Santiago presents a view that could belong to a lunar crater landscape, that when the zone is flown over, is difficult to resist the temptation to evoke space mysteries. Perhaps the strange of this landscape, is the cause of so many histories related to aliens.
