Mapa GuanajuatoThe State of Guanajuato has an area of 30,460 square meters, which represent 1.54% of the national territory. It is located in the center of the Mexican Republic, between parallels 19° 55’ and 21° 52’ north latitude, this means, up north from the Equator and between meridians 99° 39’ and 102° 5’ west longitude.
 
Guanajuato is adjacent north, to the state of San Luis Potosi, east to Queretaro, south to Michoacán and west to Jalisco.
 
Going south, the border with the purépecha villages, convents, colleges, agricultural development and more recently the textile industry is integrated by Acámbaro, Salvatierra, Yuriria, Valle de Santiago, Uriangato and Moroleón. Up north, the mining districts of Guanajuato and Sal Luis de la Paz, the silver transit through San Miguel de Allende. Dolores Hidalgo, cradle of National Independence and the detained beauty of Sierra Gorda, growing progress with new industrial parks in the borders of San José Iturbide and San Luis de la Paz due to the Queretaro – San Luis Potosi highway.
 
Our State is formed by 46 municipalities (districts) and its capital is the colonial city of Guanajuato, Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
 
Due to its excellent geographical position, the state has a great variety of climates that can be classified in three different types: semidry, mild and semi warm (hot). The temperature varies from 11 to 24 degrees centigrade; the height over sea level is of 2,000 meters and the rainfall during the months of June through September varies from 600 to 700 millimeters.
 
There are two hydrologic basins that irrigate the State: the Lerma – Santiago which irrigates 84% of its surface and the Pánuco – Tamesí. Within these two basins, there are several dams, used for irrigation, drinking water and flood control, from which the dams of Solís, Allende, Purísima, Yuriria and La Gavia, stand out.
 
There have been developed regions with different characteristics in the State of Guanajuato. El Bajío which has extensive areas of farming production and industrial development. It is composed by the cities that also form the industrial corridor like Celaya, Salamanca, Irapuato, Silao and León.
 
The richness of the thermal waters from its springs, emanate throughout its territory, in districts that have developed hotels, resorts, SPAS and water parks, among others: Abasolo, Apaseo el Alto, San Miguel de Allende, Villagrán and León.
