The climate of the city is beautiful throughout the year. The average annual temperature varies between 18°C and 22°C, which allows walk quietly at any time of year.
The coldest months are December and January. Although in the city of Leon is not a characteristic the frost or snow, it is advisable to use coats, jackets and scarves. During the winter, cold weather can be moderated throughout the day, but at night temperature is considerably low.

Various native groups, such as the Toltec, Chichimecas, Guamare, among others, inhabited this territory in pre-Hispanic times. Archaeological sites of Alfaro and Ibarrilla, near the city of Leon, show that the oldest settlements in this area are from the Pre-classical period.
It was founded on January 20, 1576 under the name Villa de Leon, by order of the viceroy Don Martin Enriquez of Alamo, with the aim of creating a defensive barrier against Chichimeca attacks.
In June 1830 rose to the rank of city, with the official name of Leon of Aldama. During the process the movement of Independence suffered in the economic, social and political. When the mines of Guanajuato were abandoned during the war, many workers settled in Leon. Agriculture was the main economic activity until the eighteenth century, when craftsmanship and manufacture of footwear started to compete.
Years of post-revolution were to Leon times of prosperity and progress altogether with demographic growth.
Nowadays the streets contrast the old colonial buildings with modern architecture and broad avenues that make up the image of a city in continuous progress.
